Mar Chao López holds a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of A Coruña and a law degree from the Open University of Catalonia. She has an MBA from the Caixanova Business School (now IESIDE) and solid complementary training in maritime law, logistics, and digital transformation. She speaks English, French, Galician, and Portuguese.

Throughout her career, which began in 1991, she has held positions of responsibility in the port and logistics sector, both in the public and private sectors. Highlights include her work as Managing Director of the Reyser Group, Commercial and Business Development Director at the Port Authority of Valencia and Director of Operations at Puertos del Estado.

In September 2023, she was appointed President of the Port Authority of Valencia. Her experience and strategic vision have contributed to the development and modernisation of the Spanish port sector, consolidating Valencia as an international benchmark in logistics and maritime transport
