Javier Martí is a distinguished academic and researcher in the field of photonics, currently holding a Full-Professor position at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPVLC) since 2000. With an academic foundation rooted in Telecommunication Engineering and a Ph.D. in Photonics, he has dedicated his career to advancing research in photonic technology. As the Director of the Valencia Nanophotonics Technology Centre (NTC), Prof. Martí has overseen groundbreaking research initiatives in areas such as metamaterials, photonic integrated circuits, and high-speed wireless-optical networks. Under his leadership, the NTC has become a globally recognized institute in photonic innovation.

Beyond his academic roles, Prof. Martí has made significant strides in bridging the gap between research and industry. In 2005, he founded DAS PHOTONICS, a spin-off company from the NTC, aimed at commercializing photonics technology for high-end markets including Defense, Avionics, and Space. As the CEO and Chairman of DAS PHOTONICS, he has driven the company’s growth and technological advancements, contributing to its position as a key player in the photonics industry. His work has been instrumental in forging partnerships with top-tier global organizations such as the European Research Agency and the European Defense Agency, further solidifying his impact on both industrial and academic fronts.

Prof. Martí’s prolific contributions to the field are underscored by his extensive body of work, including over 450 publications and 20 patents, as well as the supervision of 21 Ph.D. dissertations. His research has garnered more than 15,000 citations, with an h-index of 60, reflecting his influence on the scientific community. Additionally, he has played a pivotal role in numerous European research initiatives, including the European Technology Platform Photonics21, where he is a founding member and serves on the Board of Stakeholders.
