Andrés Saborido is a distinguished figure in the entrepreneurial and innovation landscape, holding the position of Global Managing Director at Wayra, Telefónica’s open innovation hub. He commenced his journey with Wayra in 2011, establishing Wayra Argentina as one of the pioneering seed capital funds in Latin America, which significantly boosted the local entrepreneurial ecosystem. His expertise and leadership led him to take over Wayra Spain in 2014, further expanding his influence and driving the success of numerous startups in the region​.

In 2020, Saborido was appointed as the Global Director of Wayra, overseeing its hubs worldwide, including major cities such as London, Munich, Madrid, Barcelona, São Paulo, Buenos Aires, and Bogotá. Under his leadership, Wayra has continued to thrive as a vital player in the global startup ecosystem, providing critical support and resources to innovative ventures. His strategic vision has been instrumental in aligning Wayra’s objectives with Telefónica’s broader goals, fostering a culture of innovation and open collaboration across continents.

Before his tenure at Wayra, Saborido was the Corporate Strategy Manager at Movistar & Telefónica from 2004 to 2011. During this period, he was responsible for defining and coordinating significant corporate strategic initiatives, such as the expansion of broadband services in Argentina and major pricing restructures. His professional background is complemented by his academic achievements, including a Bachelor of Business Administration from Universidad Nacional de La Plata and a Master’s in Telecommunications, e-Business, and New Business Models from Universidad de Cantabria.
