VDS 2025 Official Aftermovie

The City of Arts and Sciences showcases the best talent connected to the tech sector and its innovative culture in the university environment through the hackathon, The Challenge. This project is organized by Startup Valencia with the collaboration of the City of Arts and Sciences, the Ministry of Innovation, Industry, Tourism, and Trade, Valencia Innovation Capital, and VDS.

The initiative involves participation from the main Valencian universities, such as the Polytechnic University of Valencia, the University of Valencia, the Miguel Hernández University, the University of Alicante, the Jaume I University, EDEM, the European University of Valencia, the Catholic University of Valencia, CEU Cardenal Herrera University, ESAT, and ESIC.

The goal of The Challenge is for participants to develop their skills through four challenges presented by HP, Elewit, Naturgy, and Mapfre. Providing access to the latest trends in hiring and specialized training, along with a roster of corporations searching for new profiles, is also one of the project’s aims. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to attend a workshop delivered by LinkedIn on the most valued Top Skills.

With over 100 pre-selected profiles, this 4th edition of the hackathon will consist of multidisciplinary teams of up to six people who will work non-stop for twelve hours to solve a challenge using Lean Startup methodologies. Furthermore, the teams will be guided by prominent experts in various startup-related fields from Startup Valencia and organizations such as HP, Mapfre, Elewit, Naturgy, BStartup Banco Sabadell, Marina de Empresas, Banco Santander, Fundación ValenciaPort, or CDTM.

This competition is open to both professionals and undergraduate, postgraduate, or doctoral students from any public or private university. Additionally, there is no age limit or requirement for prior experience. The deadline to register for the hackathon is September 27th.

Other important dates to note are: from September 30th to October 4th, when the collaborative teams that will respond to the challenges will be formed, and October 15th, when The Challenge will take place at the Science Museum in the City of Arts and Sciences.

Each challenge will have a winning team, who will have the opportunity to present their project with a pitch at VDS2024 on October 24th, within the unique setting of the international tech event, which will award €5,000 to the winning team thanks to the collaboration of HP.
