Lorenzo Cotino Hueso is a distinguished legal scholar and educator, holding a doctorate and a law degree from the University of Valencia, where he has been a professor for three decades. He earned a Master’s in Fundamental Rights from ESADE in Barcelona and holds advanced diplomas in Political Science from UNED. In 2017, he was appointed as a Professor of Constitutional Law at the University of Valencia.
His academic contributions are extensive, with 14 monographs and coordination of 26 others, alongside over 200 scientific articles and chapters, primarily focusing on privacy, data protection, and transparency. He has led numerous research projects in these fields and has been coordinating the specialist network www.derechotics.com since 2024. His accolades include national research awards and recognition as an honorary professor and doctor honoris causa by foreign universities.
Beyond academia, Cotino has served as a substitute magistrate at the Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Community and held roles such as a member of the Transparency Council and vice president of Spain’s Open Government Forum. He has consulted on AI regulation and sandbox initiatives in Spain and has been the Director of Privacy at OdiseIA since 2020, contributing to the ethical and social impact assessment of artificial intelligence.
