Nil Angli joined the European Space Agency (ESA) in 2016, where he currently leads the Maritime Group within the Commercialisation, Industry, and Competitiveness Directorate. In this role, he is dedicated to advancing collaborations between the maritime and space sectors, spearheading initiatives that utilize space data to improve maritime safety and sustainability.
Before his tenure at ESA, Nil spent eight years as a Space Systems Engineer at Surrey Satellites Technology Ltd. (SSTL). There, he contributed significantly to the design, manufacturing, and operation of satellites for Science, Earth Observation, and Telecommunications missions, playing a pivotal role in several key projects.
Nil holds a degree in Aerospace Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. He has furthered his expertise with a Master of Science in Astrophysics from the University of Barcelona, a Specialised Masters in Space Systems Engineering from ISAE-SUPAERO, a PgD in International Security from the University of Leicester, and a PgD in Executive Maritime Management from the World Maritime University.
