Zoometrics

Zoometrics is a GovTech startup that develops digital tools for the intelligent management of urban biodiversity, with an initial focus on community cat colonies. Our flagship platform, Meow Metrics, enables municipalities, public administrations, and volunteer networks to comply with Spain’s Animal Welfare Law (Law 7/2023), streamline administrative processes, and coordinate effectively with local stakeholders.

The platform combines georeferenced data, digital records, and citizen participation to provide municipalities with a real-time overview of colony status, veterinary interventions, and compliance indicators. Volunteers and associations benefit from intuitive mobile and web tools that help organize daily tasks, record animal health and behavior, and validate their work through transparent reporting.

Beyond cats, Zoometrics is building a scalable framework to address broader biodiversity management challenges under its modular approach (e.g., Green Metrics for vegetation, Wild Metrics for wildlife monitoring). This roadmap allows cities to integrate different aspects of biodiversity governance within a single system, aligned with the principles of One Health, smart cities, and digital public services transformation.

Zoometrics has been recognized in innovation and sustainability ecosystems across Spain, including participation in accelerator programs such as Wayra, Las Rozas Innova, and Greencities Málaga. Our vision is to become a reference point in Europe and beyond for nature-based digital solutions, supporting cities in their transition toward more sustainable, inclusive, and data-driven biodiversity policies.
