Captain Wave Crookes is a distinguished professional mariner and diver with over 30 years of experience spanning the UK Navy, deep-sea saturation diving, commercial shipping, the British Antarctic Survey, and the RNLI UK sea rescue service. His extensive career has taken him across all the world’s oceans, establishing him as a leader in marine operations.

As the head of SeaGrown’s marine operations, Captain Crookes has played a pivotal role in the development and deployment of Kelpedo, SeaGrown’s patented, scalable ocean health system. Kelpedo utilizes seaweed and shellfish to deliver vital ecosystem services, improving water quality and enhancing biodiversity in diverse marine environments, including ports and offshore sites.

Under his leadership, SeaGrown became the first UK company licensed for offshore seaweed cultivation and has been recognized for innovation, winning RWE’s global offshore wind co-location and biodiversity uplift competition in 2025.
