Juan M. Alberola is a PhD and Associate Professor at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), specializing in Artificial Intelligence. He serves as Director of the Smart AI Chair in collaboration with Telefónica, where his work centers on the application of AI to smart cities and public administration, advancing the integration of intelligent infrastructure and innovative use cases.

Since 2004, Dr. Alberola has been an active member of UPV’s AI research community, now part of the Valencian Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence (VRAIN). His research interests include multi-agent systems, mobility, optimization, and intelligent assistants, with a strong focus on real-world impact in sectors such as healthcare, education, and urban environments.

Dr. Alberola has published extensively in high-impact journals and international conferences. He has contributed as a reviewer and committee member for several scientific venues and has supervised numerous undergraduate and graduate theses, fostering the next generation of AI researchers.
