Chad Weeden is the Director of RIT Esports and the RIT Cybersecurity Range: Production & Operations, where he leads initiatives at the intersection of technology infrastructure, cyber operations, and competitive gaming. He has overseen the launch of advanced facilities, including a nationally recognized cyber range, streaming media labs, esports training centers, and digital innovation hubs.
As the founder of RIT Esports in 2014, Chad has guided the program into the largest collegiate esports organization in the United States, supporting 23 competitive teams, over 20 national championships, and a robust scholarship framework for both athletes and operational leaders. RIT Esports now engages more than 2,600 students annually and serves as a national model for integrating competition, education, and leadership.
In his role with the RIT Cybersecurity Range, Chad has directed the design, deployment, and operation of one of North America’s most advanced cyber training environments. These facilities are used for competitions, education, and workforce development, preparing the next generation of cyber professionals and demonstrating the value of structured esports and cyber programs in talent acceleration and interdisciplinary learning.
