Francisco Vidal Vázquez is the Co-Founder and CTO of ICODOS GmbH, a technology startup in Mannheim, Germany, dedicated to developing scalable e-methanol production processes using CO₂ from biogas and industrial off-gases. With over 13 years of experience in renewable energy, fuels, and chemicals, he specializes in Carbon Capture and Utilization and Power-to-X technologies, aiming to decarbonize the shipping and chemical industries.

After earning his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Chemical Engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de València, Francisco moved to Finland, where he completed a PhD at Aalto University and contributed to pioneering projects at VTT, including the world’s first e-fuel plant based on Direct Air Capture and solar energy. In 2018, he joined the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, where he registered a patent for a novel CO₂ capture and methanol synthesis process, laying the foundation for ICODOS.

As CTO, Francisco ensures that ICODOS’s patented technology delivers the cost savings needed for commercial success. Under his leadership, ICODOS has launched the world’s first fully integrated Power-to-Methanol plant and an e-methanol plant using municipal wastewater, raising over €5 million in public and €0.5 million in equity funding to drive innovation and commercialization.
