Hortensia Roig has been President of EDEM Business School since 2017, having previously held various management roles at the institution since 2005. At EDEM, she combines her passions for education and business, focusing on developing entrepreneurial talent and leadership skills. Her leadership has helped strengthen EDEM’s role as a key institution in business education.
She is also a Board Member of Mercadona, one of Spain’s largest supermarket chains, which has over 1,600 stores and 100,000 employees in Spain and Portugal. Additionally, Roig holds positions on the boards of COTEC and the Advisory Board of Berklee College of Music, where she was the first Spanish woman to join. Her involvement with these organizations reflects her commitment to innovation and leadership.
Roig is the founder of the Hortensia Roig Children’s Literature Award, promoting STEM careers for girls through literature. She is also a patron of the Premis Rei Jaume I Foundation and has been recognized as one of the 500 most influential women in Spain. Her education includes a law degree from the University of Valencia, further studies at Babson College, and participation in various executive programs at EDEM and Deloitte.
