Iker Marcaide is an influential impact entrepreneur and investor based in Valencia, Spain. He is the founder and chairman of Zubi Group, a collective of companies dedicated to addressing social and environmental challenges through innovative solutions in education, sustainable cities, venture building, and impact investing. Iker’s vision for Zubi Group is to mobilize talent and co-investors to create a positive impact on society and the environment.
In 2009, Iker founded Flywire, originally known as peerTransfer, between Spain and the USA. Under his leadership as CEO until December 2013, Flywire became a global leader in international education payments. The company made history as the first Spanish-origin startup to be listed on the Nasdaq, achieving a $3.5 billion IPO in May 2021. This milestone marked a significant achievement in Iker’s entrepreneurial journey.
Currently, Iker serves as the CEO and co-founder of Matteco, a cleantech scale-up focused on developing advanced materials to decarbonize the economy, starting with green hydrogen. His commitment to sustainability extends to his philanthropic efforts as a trustee of Social Nest Foundation and Fundación Felisa. Iker is also a member of The Impact and is personally dedicated to improving the lives of people with type 1 diabetes.
