Jason Giffen is a seasoned leader with over 25 years of experience in planning and environmental fields, specializing in coastal and marine environments in California. He holds a master’s degree in international environmental policy from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies and executive education in Sustainability Leadership from Harvard University.

For the past 13 years, Jason has advanced a robust portfolio of environmental programs at the Port of San Diego, focusing on environmental protection, climate action, coastal resilience, nature-based solutions, maritime sustainability, and blue economy innovation. He has been instrumental in establishing the Port’s Blue Economy Incubator, supporting the growth of innovative blue tech ventures.

Jason is recognized for his ability to foster partnerships and drive collaborative solutions, positioning the Port of San Diego as a global hub for blue tech innovation. Through the Port Innovators Network and international collaborations, he continues to champion sustainable development and resilience in port communities worldwide.
