Maria Llena

Scientific staff and Predoctoral Researcher, Ibions

Biochemist and biotechnologist from Rovira i Virgili University (URV), with a Master’s in Nutrition and Metabolism (URV–UB). I recently defended my thesis on metabolomics and diet-induced alterations, developed within the Nutrigenomics Research Group, where I also completed a year-long internship.
My academic and professional path bridges biomedical research, metabolism, and precision nutrition, across academic, clinical, and industrial settings. I was recently awarded a predoctoral fellowship by AECC to join the Autophagy and Onconutrition Lab (UV).
I’ve gained hands-on experience in molecular biology and clinical research at IRBLleida, and completed undergraduate research projects in nutrigenetics (Ibions) and probiotic viability (Danone).
Over the past two years, I’ve worked at the Cátedra Uriach de Nutracéutica (URV), and at the Fundació URV, focusing on knowledge transfer, science communication, and supporting the creation of a biotech spin-off in bioactives for health and nutrition.
