María Romano is the Head of the European Investment Bank (EIB) Group office in Spain. Since 2015, she has held senior leadership positions within both the EIB and the European Investment Fund (EIF), playing a key role in shaping the Group’s strategic direction and strengthening its outreach across Europe.

Prior to her current appointment in Madrid, María led the Regional Representations Division at the EIF, where she managed the coordination of the Fund’s activities throughout EU Member States. Before joining the EIB Group, she was Chief Financial Officer at Arcano Partners, an independent alternative asset management firm.

María holds a double Master’s degree in Law and Business Administration from Universidad Pontificia Comillas (ICADE – E3). She is fluent in Spanish, English, French, and Italian.
