I earned my degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alicante, followed by a Doctorate from the same institution. Throughout my PhD studies, I focused on various issues confronting the recycling industry as it transitions to a Circular Economy. These challenges include the uncertain environmental impacts of novel upcycling methods, the significant energy demands associated with plastic recycling processes, and the unclear composition of recycled plastics, which may pose risks to consumer safety. The objective of my research was to enhance understanding of these topics and support the advancement of the Circular Economy in the plastics sector, with a particular emphasis on flexible plastics, which present greater recycling difficulties.
In conclusion, my colleague Andrea Cabanes, our doctoral advisor Andres Fullana, and I made the decision to establish Fych in order to apply our knowledge, research, and advancements in our professional field to real-world scenarios.
