Pilar Mateo is an internationally recognized chemist, inventor, and CEO, ranked among Spain’s top ten women scientists and among the top 100 women scientists globally. She holds a PhD in Chemical Sciences from the University of Valencia and the CSIC, and has been awarded a Doctor Honoris Causa by Anáhuac University in Mexico.

She is best known for inventing Inesfly®, a patented insecticidal paint using microencapsulation technology to control vectors of diseases such as Chagas, malaria, dengue, Zika, and leishmaniasis. Her innovations, protected by multiple international patents, have been deployed in over 120 countries and have had a transformative impact on global health.

Beyond her scientific achievements, Mateo has founded and led social innovation projects like MoMIM, Shichi – Mujer a Mujer, and Filmántropo, focusing on women’s empowerment and indigenous communities. She served as Director-General for Development Cooperation in Valencia and has received numerous international awards for her contributions to science and social justice.
