Vanessa Barzasi is the Founder and CEO of BioBright LTD, where she leads the development and commercialisation of innovative, algae-based environmental solutions for the maritime sector. Under her leadership, BioBright secured a prestigious grant from Innovate UK’s Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition, validating the company’s technology and enabling a strategic pilot partnership with the Port of Tyne.

A recognized leader in clean-tech innovation, Vanessa has demonstrated a unique ability to unite industry, government, and technology. She was instrumental in forming a powerful consortium with the Thames Estuary Growth Board and Connected Places Catapult, accelerating BioBright’s path to market and de-risking its technology through collaborative support.

Vanessa is now focused on exploring investment opportunities to accelerate BioBright’s growth and secure a pilot project in Spain. She aims to showcase BioBright’s algae cultivation and real-time monitoring system, which measures CO₂ absorption, water pollution, and biodiversity improvements, with a vision to expand into future aquaculture applications.
